The Weight Watchers Chronicles: Not Another Failed Resolution (I Hope!)

At the start of this month I decided to embark on a new journey with Weight Watchers. A few days in, I managed to convince my husband to join me, and it’s been a game-changer. Having his support has made all the difference, transforming what could have felt like a solo challenge into a shared adventure! Working at home with him retired means we eat almost all our meals together so this just made sense.

The results so far have been so encouraging! I’ve already lost almost four pounds, and my husband has shed nearly ten. (How is that even fair?!) Seeing these changes has been both motivating and rewarding, but what’s been even more special is the partnership we've formed. Sharing this journey with him has brought us closer in unexpected ways, and it’s been wonderful to tackle this as a team.

One of the biggest changes has been how we approach grocery shopping. We’ve been scanning everything to see how many points each item is. Let me tell you...this has been eye opening! It’s made us so much more intentional about what we’re putting in our cart and, ultimately, in our bodies. But the best part? Weight Watchers still lets us enjoy treats. We’ve been using our weekly points to splurge on things we love! This week, we stayed disciplined by eating at home so that we can go out and indulge this weekend. At some point we know our son who loves to eat fast food nuggets will want to eat out, so Wendy's it is! Zero point baked potato, light sour cream, and stashing my zero point spray butter in my purse...we got this!

Even at home, we’ve found ways to enjoy some incredible meals. Check out this breakfast sandwich (attaching a photo)! It’s just 6 points out of my 23-point daily budget, all thanks to simple swaps like chicken sausage and light English muffins (an eggs are zero points on Weight Watchers!!!). These little changes have made a huge difference.

Now, here’s where I need to vent a little...my husband has practically double the daily points I do. DOUBLE! But here’s the kicker: he’s eating the same meals I am, so he’s able to splurge on a glass of scotch every night and STILL has points left over. Meanwhile, I’m over here just trying not to cry into my zero-point orange because I miss my wine. The struggle is real, folks.

All jokes aside, this journey has been so much easier with him by my side. I’m grateful for the support and excited about the changes we’re making together. For anyone thinking about starting Weight Watchers or any lifestyle change, having a partner (or at least a cheerleader) makes all the difference.
